You mean I'm rubbering it in!

Yeah, I reckon 636 miles (to be precise, lol) is the 'sweet spot', then there's a discernible surge in performance.

Very thirsty.  Car had a full tank at collection and today was the 3rd fill up I've done, so got through 3 tank fills in 15 days!  Showing an average 25mpg though. Mind you I remember my Mk6 being a bit of a petroleum alchy in the early days, then settled right down.

How's Mrs MH getting along with her driving practice?  Ready for the test?

Holy smokes 3 tanks in 700 miles
I did expect it to be not great but not quite that bad :embarrassed:

I'm not noted for my lightness of right foot.

It's been an expensive fortnight, not including the actual cost of the car.  But do I care?.....

......no!

I get about 320 miles per tank when taking it down to about 20 miles remaining if using momentum and about 300 miles with anything else. A quick solo shopping trip in the R last night saw some very low mpg as I was keen to feel the power of the R again after being in the A1.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

That's the trouble, I'm a bit too keen to feel the power of the R anytime, even on the school run!

The long term average mpg, is better than I got with my Mk6 at the same stage. If I can get 280mpg in time, from a tank, I'll be happy, anything over will be a bonus.

280mpg? In a VW XL prototype maybe.

I get the opportunity to really hammer the R for all of about 5 seconds at a time maybe 3 times on my commute, and right now i'm doing most of my commute in the wife's A1.

Wishful thinking   280 miles a tank I meant but you know that.

You need to get out on more solo, non commute drives.

350 mpt - the stuff of dreams for me!!  I did get 320 from the GTI, but can't see that happening in the R! Blow the cost of the petrol, I'm enjoying the car too much too care!

My fuel light in the Passat came on yesterday having done 780 milles. I really don't think I could cope with all that petrol guzzling.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Does an alarm go off triggering a small firework display and popping of streamers when your fuel light comes on?

Every week's a fuel party in my car.  I consider the petrol station to be my second home.

That only happens when I pass the 1000 miles between refill mark. (Which has only happened once.) Amongst all the rumours that are flying about, I'm concerned that this feature may be disabled if the dealers ever get it back in to perform the emissions scandal software changes.
