get some pics up booth!!

Hey Chris, you're late to the party, lol.

Here's some pics of it in it's undetailed but washed state.  It will get better once I find the time to give it a full going over.

Lots of pics in other threads on here Chris, and I'm sure there will be plenty of 'post initial clean' photos after the weekend.
Get yer shades out ready 'cos it'll be SHINY!

You'll be relieved to know there won't be any pics this weekend. Detailing is having to be done in stages as I have family commitments throughout this weekend.  Hoping to at least get the glue and iron deposits off tommorow, and just a quickie wash.  No photos till it's been sealed and waxed, possibly next weekend, weather permitting.  So you've got at least a weeks photo free grace.

Seriously thinking about getting an R in March. If they average 30 MPG that's good news. In my GTI I'm getting about 33 MPG in normal everyday traffic

Well it's only been a week but my average mpg is showing 25, which is better than I thought at this stage.  Did include a short/medium distance motorway journey, but also lots of congested city driving.  Should hopefully creep up, I'm expecting 27/28 in time but many seem to edge over 30 mpg.

As for the car - knowing what I know now, I would get one.

Varies a lot on fuel too. I filled up at Sainsbury's (RON97) and my mpg is down to about 28mpg average with what i'm doing with the car right now, It's be 31 with V-power and maybe 32/33 with Tesco Momentum.

The new commute is about the same length as the old one, but no Tyne tunnel passes - it might get a bit hairy in the winter though, heading 20 miles inland well into Northumberland. The temp is about 6C cooler there than at the coast and there's plenty of big roadkill by the side of the road (I counted 3 Badgers - they'd do some damage to any car they hit) The evening traffic is a bugger, I have to take a 2 mile detour to go further around Newcastle centre going home, it's not a bother going to work.

The R seems to handle crawling traffic better than the wife's A1 1.6TDI - saw the A1 mpg drop from an impressive 59mpg to 44mpg when I hit some very slow traffic going home the other day, same issue saw the R's drop from 33mpg to 29.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

MK7 R on a 15 plate, Lapiz Blue, 5 doors with Prets. My commute to work takes me along the coast road and up/down a bit of the A1 through the Blaydon Bypass as I work in Prudhoe now. The commute home avoids the Toon and goes back via Killingorth/A19.

Chances are you might see me around in it.

You do get to know the car well if you detail it yourself, and one thing that has pleasantly surprised me with the R is the lack of water traps compared to my previous GTI.  Most notably inside the fuel flap and inside door sills and front grill hold onto much less water. Wing mirrors still a nightmare though. And it's a breeze cleaning and drying the grill as opposed to the old honeycomb style.

Full detail to be finished next weekend, but couldn’t resist getting a few pics of the R with it’s big brother on the driveway. Excuse rusty brake discs. Couldn’t take it for a spin to clean them off as the beast was in the way.

Love the pics Ms. B

That's an awful lot of metalwork between the two vehicles to wash!
I'd hate to think how long a full detail on the Beast would take?!!

Fab pictures Rebecca. Love the beast. Best way to protect the R.

There might be other DBP Rs and Rs in other colours, but yours is the best. A perfectly specced car.
