Faults aplenty!
« on: 30 September 2015, 16:52 »
Have my GTD two years now and it's been troublesome! Anybody had these issues?

Leaking Air Con. (fixed before, now happening again)
Wing mirrors creak and stutter when folding.(Fixed, happening again)
Cup holder door only sliding back half way. (A nightmare as you can imagine lol)
Bend light error.

Few more I can't remember. The car it great besides lol

No, I have had no issues with mine...

Apart from having the vertical parts of the spoiler on the tailgate replaced under warranty...

My MK7 GTD was almost faultless, save for the knackered suspension mount bearings destroyed as a result of the dealership leaving a set of transport pucks in after PDI.

My R on the other hand....I have had it 4 months and within that time the dealers have had it back for warranty work almost a quarter of that time.

I'm needing a new turbo this time.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Sorry to hear that......not a good advert for the car really

What did they do for the creaking wing mirrors?

Some minor faults with my GTI.

Suspension mount
Flywheel replaced
Clutch replace
Gearbox synchro rings replaced
Centre console flap replaced
DAB signal problems
Vertical spoiler replaced
Dashboard metallic rattle
Creeking door mirrors
Inlet manifold replaced

Plus a few other minor issues

I literally would piss on that GTI to put out a fire.

My R however is faultless and awesome!

The first time I don't know what they did, second time they dismantled and oiled it. Third time change the car maybe. ;-)

Had the squeak gate issues with Gators and replaced a bulb for Bend Light Error and that's it for actual faults.

My one major niggle was transformed by replacing the front tyres. It truly is night and day in how pull away now.

Goes in for its 2 year service next week.

Also everything is well bedded in now, all that early tightness in engine steering and DSG changes long gone so it really is a pleasure to drive about and just hoping VW stay in business  so can get myself an R next time around.

Wow reading this topic I believe I am lucky. I haven't had any of the issues I am reading here. I only had the rusty rear rotor hubs which I sorted with a bit of Hammerite and had the rear spoiler plastic wings re-attached at 1 year service as part of a recall.
