Kerbed Alloy/Lease advice

Had a phonecall from the Mrs this morning... its taken 4 months/3000 miles but she has finally kerbed an alloy 

First question is can anyone advise on the repair cost for the GTD alloy and anywhere in and around Manchester that will do a good job? Ive heard a place in Stockport is good, prestige alloys I think it was called?

Second question, the car is a lease car. Neither of us have ever had a lease car before and wondered where we stand when it comes to handing it back. Do they expect it to be immaculate or will they pick up the kerbed alloys and expect compensation. I read the terms and conditions from VW and it just explained they will expect general wear and tear.

I have serious car OCD so I will have to get it repaired im just thinking that if she does it again (highly likely) near the end of the lease should I bother getting it repaired?

Your damage isn't as bad as mine was.

I would leave that until the end of the term if you need to repair it. It may be kerbed again and it doesn't look too bad from that pic.

That looks very minor and would probably be hardly visible with a a bit of treatment with 'wet and dry' paper. 'Fair wear and tear' generally allows scuffs on wheels up to 25mm. Lease companies have to allow for that - they do not expect cars to be returned in mint condition.

ha ha yeah she knows what im like and was trying to blame everyone else but herself, you should have heard her it was very funny! Kerbing alloys is one of my pet hates and she knows this!

I have emailed them a pic. They have indeed said £110, or £85 for a mobile repair but that will not be as good.

Judging by her last car I should expect more. It was just I planned to use it more give my new car is drinking a fair bit and I like my cars immaculate.

I will inspect later and make a decision. She told me it was really bad which makes me concerned the pic doesn't show the full horror

If it's only as bad as the pic suggests, then it's not really bad - leave it alone and you'll soon forget about it or the next stone chip / ding will replace it in your mind!
Clean the wheel, maybe try smoothing it with very fine sandpaper, dab some lacquer on it, put some tyre shine on the tyres and it'll look much better.

Like most people on here perhaps I think alloy kerbing is a sin.

I kept on reminding my wife to be very careful, on taking delivery of my current car, only to eat humble pie a few weeks later when I gouged one of them on those horrible 90 degree Granite kerbs.

Learnt both to avoid them like the plague and give future advice on the matter.

I don't like this kind of answer, like saying why wash your car when it will only get dirty again!? I'm of the opinion that these cars cost enough to own/drive so why wouldn't you want it looking it's best?

Believe me I'm as fussy and anal about this stuff as anyone else on here. The kerbing would drive me absolutely crazy too. I was simply suggesting to try the above, see how it looks and if unhappy then go down the refurb route. I've seen pretty mixed results from refurbs especially on that balls of a diamond cut finish.

If your car is a daily driver and isn't wrapped up in bubble wrap in an oxygen tent, then I'm afraid occasional stone chips / minor marks are inevitable.

FWIW as it happens I did much worse to mine this morning, accidently hitting a kerb at 30mph, was mint until now
