Water problem
« on: 29 September 2015, 18:46 »
Any suggestions please.... Currently got the carpets out and all the sound deadening, and when it rains I keep finding a puddle on the passenger side footwell. I found the problem, it appears to be coming in thru the pollen filter, and dripping down onto the heater blower, and down to the footwell! Has anyone got a cure for this??

I've not had a mk2 with a pollen filter but that sounds like a leaky seal on the blower intake. Lift the bonnet, remove the scuttle tray and on the passenger side. The seal around this is notorious.

There is also a drainage hole on the inner wing next to the blower cover.  Check it is clear.

Pollen filter/cabin filter. Yeah mine never came with one but you can get them off good olde flea bay, helps to stop bits of dead leaves getting mashed up in the blower and getting blown all over the dash! But yeah, quite sure it's not the seal as I renewed it with new last winter, but will have a look anyways. Will check the drainage holes too. Was pondering if a good wrap of cling film with a fair few pin head holes would get a good seal and still allow air to pass thru ???
