Hiya guys - I own an old t - reg golf which sounds like it's about to pack up on me!! There's a knocking sound coming from the engine - I actually thought it sounded like an engine mount was gone - as the knock only occurs when you accelerate to pull away or when accelerating after changing gears. It seems to be coming from the forth cylinder (or the far right one as you look at the engine) it sounds as though something is hitting the inside of the cover?? The car runs fine and sounds normal otherwise. I've shown a respectable mechanic who said he's never heard anything like it!! He said it might be a piece of turbo broken off or a ht lead breaking down?? Anyway I was going to take the rocker cover off tomorrow and take a look - any advice or suggestions much appreciated.
