Hi all,
I just wanted to share my story with you guys and to get it off my chest. I've been lurking here for a while.
Picked up my 63 reg plate golf GTI yesterday from the dealers after them saying the car is ready with the 142 check and the service done ect.
So I arrive at the dealer at 7pm and leave with the car at 8pm and oh boy this is where things go wrong.
I drive 10 minutes and the engine dies, engine is very grumpy and smoke is everywhere in the back, can't accelerate at all and EPC warning light and the Catalytic converter warning light comes on. sh!t. Time to ring the dealer and ask what the hell is going on. They're closed and the phone is on voicemail. Great. Time to put in use the AA VW 1 year free policy I got and they came in 40 minutes who have been wonderfully helpful and were amazed about my story so far.
They had no idea what was going on, they said the code they read was that cylinders 1/4 weren't firing IIRC and was checking spark plugs and fuel leaks and then at the final check disconnected the fuel pump and poured some fuel out and then said this might be diesel in the car. Great...
Then I get taken home by the AA and then they took the car to my dealer this morning with me.
Got to the dealer and the salesman I dealt with said they were sorry and they'll look at it. I get the keys to a diesel passat and got lead out of the dealer and on my way I go in 10 minutes.
Friends and family are wondering why I didn't go mad and rage at them but I'm just not that kind of person and I left the dealer unhappy. Pretty dreadful so far.
For what it's worth, I did enjoy the 10 minutes I got to drive the car and I am waiting on a response from the dealer and pondering how something this ridiculous could happen to me...
