Anyone ever fitted modern headlights to their MK3?
« on: 14 September 2015, 03:04 »
The standard headlights are a bit weak and the glass on one of mine is chipped anyway. So was thinking about something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK3-1992-1998-CHROME-ANGEL-EYE-HALO-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS-HEADLAMPS-PAIR/331449033120?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3Da09b0dfecc6a430ab7b13f2f551b9fcc%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D13%26rkt%3D30%26sd%3D131558077499

I just want good modern headlights that are more effective for night driving, look smart on the MK3, and that's it! So any ideas on angel eyes, like ULTRA or is there something better? Thanks :)

It's not the headlight that are weak. It is the power to them that are. You can wire your half beam (with a realy) like you would have done if you had extra headlights in the bumper (if you know what i mean).

Disconnect the cable from the headlight. Turn on the car and see for yourself. Doubt you'll get anything near to 12V...

Light on cheap aftermarket headlights is usually worse than the originals.

Get yourself some GTI/VR6 headlights if you have the H4 single chamber now, put some Osram or Philips super bright bulbs in and relay the circuit.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll have to ask my mechanic as this isn't work I can do myself. Maybe they can come up with something if I point them in the right direction.

I got rid of my headlights and now use candles from poundland.

I still can't see anything but i know if i have a bump i won't be cutting my fingers on broken glass.
