Great video, the rev counter looks like it red lines at 7000+rpm, am I right in thinking the current GTI MK7 red lines at around 6000rpm? If this is the case then the Clubsport is not far off a Honda VTEC with it's high revs. When I used to own Type-R's I used to have to get to 6500rpm+ before I got all the power out of the car, but oh what a great noise it made in doing so.
It revs higher because it has the bigger turbo'd R engine.
The Leon Cupra was initially released with a 265 Bhp option which is just a software change from the 280 version that has now been superseded by (wait for it.... ) a 290 PS Cupra!
The 280/290 Cupra was just a marketing thing, it has the 300 PS Golf R/S3 tune in reality, going from various reports on Cupranet that are often backed up by tuners figures. VW Group have done this in the past too, the 2005/6 Leon FR petrol was marketed with having about 185 Bhp but was really a 200 PS Golf GTI engine. Economies of scale, marketing heirachy and all that.
The CS GTI just has a switchable map in the ECU and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it's just a tiny bit of overboost and that it's less of a different map but rather the ECUjust backs off boost and fuelling after 10 or 15 seconds (or whatever it is) of flat out acceleration to keep intake temps lower and gives VW chance to market it as 'cleaner' than an R and superficially at least "not as powerful" on paper so as not to tread too much on its toes.
I think you should do it!
Not sure about the PCP thing but keeping it a long time is what I'd do.
Buy the car you really want and cherish it.
Never understood people who change all the time.
Put a bit more thought into it the first time then you won't constantly keep wanting to upgrade.
Modern society and slick marketing are the reasons there.
People looking for their nirvana being told what they want to hear by clever marketing people.
Technology moves at such a fast pace they can always trundle out something "all new and improved" every couple years.
No matter how much thought you put into a purchase you won't halt the tide of "progress".
