Although in Spanish, (My audio is turned off at present) here is another video on You Tube showing more of the seats from front on in the GTI Clubsport.  The car does look good in this video.

4WD will help the R @corner exit for a very short time otherwise its lugging round the extra weight, with accompanied transmission wind-up and power sucking.

On the dealer front, I found Inchcape in Chester really helpful when I booked a build-slot back in September. Can't recommend them enough.

Bit of a longer video showing all the 3x cars from the day.

Got to say the CSG looks great colour on this.

Great video, the rev counter looks like it red lines at 7000+rpm, am I right in thinking the current GTI MK7 red lines at around 6000rpm?  If this is the case then the Clubsport is not far off a Honda VTEC with it's high revs.  When I used to own Type-R's I used to have to get to 6500rpm+ before I got all the power out of the car, but oh what a great noise it made in doing so.

Nice Video. Is the other silver/grey one driving around track inside the first minute Tungsten Silver?

Love the look the Clubsport, i think if you are keeping it stock you have a viable R alternative, if you are looking at 360bhp with a map then i'd take the R

I hear all the comparisons and in reality i think each one has its day

I've run Pilot Sport Cup 2s on my R for five months, these for me are not all year round tyres as not great in the wet or colder temps, i have a spare set of wheels on running super sports now its wetter, in the dry they just transformed the R and its handling

I think not putting Pilot Sport Cup 2s on the lighter 18s is a mistake as is the prets

Hi all, new to this forum, have had golfs in the past but have always desired the GTI since being a youngster and seeing the 16v mark 2, just never had enough money!  :( .  My first was  new 2005 mark 5 1.6 FSI.  Nice car but was a bit boring, sold it in 2009 and upgraded to a mark 6 1.4 TSi (gt sport 160 BHP), I know a lot of you will scoff at such a slow car but I loved it and the interior.

Anyway onto the club sport, I had to sell my GT Sport a few years back to pay for a deposit on a house and have been saving ever since.  Having seen the videos/promos for the new clubsport and doing the maths, I REALLY want this car.  Just shy of an R but a better GTI and one which may hold value better and be rarer on the road.

Now my plan with this is to keep it as long as it lasts, im hoping for around 10 years minimum.  Does anyone have any advice for me?  I have heard about getting the PCP then getting a cheaper loan to pay it off (thereby getting the dealer contribution)  Does this work?

Would you guys suggest a club sport as a beginner GTI?  Also it will be a family car so will the sport seats get uncomfortable on long journeys?  Really excited about getting it.  Thanks all! :)

I think you should do it!
Not sure about the PCP thing but keeping it a long time is what I'd do.
Buy the car you really want and cherish it.
Never understood people who change all the time.
Put a bit more thought into it the first time then you won't constantly keep wanting to upgrade.

It revs higher because it has the bigger turbo'd R engine.
The Leon Cupra was initially released with a 265 Bhp option which is just a software change from the 280 version that has now been superseded by (wait for it.... ) a 290 PS Cupra!
The 280/290 Cupra was just a marketing thing, it has the 300 PS Golf R/S3 tune in reality, going from various reports on Cupranet that are often backed up by tuners figures. VW Group have done this in the past too, the 2005/6 Leon FR petrol was marketed with having about 185 Bhp but was really a 200 PS Golf GTI engine. Economies of scale, marketing heirachy and all that.
The CS GTI just has a switchable map in the ECU and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it's just a tiny bit of overboost and that it's less of a different map but rather the ECUjust backs off boost and fuelling after 10 or 15 seconds (or whatever it is) of flat out acceleration to keep intake temps lower and gives VW chance to market it as 'cleaner' than an R and superficially at least "not as powerful" on paper so as not to tread too much on its toes.

I think you should do it!

Modern society and slick marketing are the reasons there.
People looking for their nirvana being told what they want to hear by clever marketing people.
Technology moves at such a fast pace they can always trundle out something "all new and improved" every couple years.
No matter how much thought you put into a purchase you won't halt the tide of "progress".
