Stainless manifold on a MK3 GTI 16v going to do anything?

Yeah it certainly helps if you can do it yourself! Lol Might as well chsnge all bearings etc in the gearbox as well if pulling it apart. I think Hotgolf quoted about £400 plus for a full rebuild and final drive with you supplying the gearbox. Then you got costs of fitting etc so it all adds up. Being mechanically minded would certainly save you a fortune but if you don't know what you are doing get someone who knows what they are doing in that department

As for porting and polishing the cylinder head a specialist company like TSR would charge about £700 including fitment. Thst is without the cams and port matching the manifold.  Hence why I would rather go down for 1.8T route. I have my suspension,  brakes, wheels and bodywork up to top spec now so it's just a case of saving for a big conversion. In the meantime am quite happy with my 163 bhp

I had one of these on my ABF for a few months, it did fit.
One of big issues was how it fits onto the CAT -the manifold uses a ring & the CAT has a flange -its also a smaller bore than original.

The other issue was the lack of flexi connection, I have hockey pucked the front mount and had a new gearbox mount fitted -despite the engine hardly moving around it kept snapping bolts at the down pipe to the CAT. didnt have the time to look at it properly, took it to a local tyre tyre depot, they put even larger bolts on than standard, everything was good for a week until I down changed and the manifold snapped at the collector.

Reverted back to original manifold, much smoother easier to rev, it has a flexi connection & more power - not had a problem of bolts snapping since.

I suspect these are actually a Mk2 16v manifolds

Stainless is just a b!tch to fit. most of the time its the wrong type of material and crappy welding that lets go.

I've lightened a few flywheels for people on here, although I'm not sure if anyone has actually fitted them yet!!

Give me a shout if you want one done. I have two stock flywheels here at the mo, waiting to be lightened.
I can either sell direct or exchange for your stock one.
