Was surprised they gave you an audi

Apparently it was all they could source locally.  They said they'd try and get me a GTD, but wasn't one available.  Then they offered me a cabriolet Audi A3 at first but I said I'd rather not have a cab, so got this instead.

So far, reduced performance and diesel engine aside, I'm not overly keen on it.  Find the cabin very cramped and the driving position odd compared to the Golf.  Seems like you have to be practically be on top of the steering wheel to reach the clutch pedal.  Headroom is much less and twice I've hit my head on the top of the door frame getting out of the car.  Don't like the tiny rear view mirror, centre console, which seems like a lot of wasted space or the steering wheel which feels too big and cumbersome.  It's a boggo standard A3 but IMO interior does not feel more premium in any sense.  I expect I'll get accustomed to it, but much, much prefer the Golf cabin.  Also other half hates the sliding dash top mounted sat nav/media screen - finds it distracting, but I don't mind that.  I guess I've been conditioned by Golfs too long.

Hey Rebecca, really good to meet you yesterday. You were great to deal with too!.

The car has clearly been much-loved over the last 3 years. Its condition is a testament to the care and attention you've given it. It's the best example of a GTI I've seen! It didn't miss a beat in the 400 mile drive back to Scotland btw, drove great. Look forward to posting some pictures of it up here!

All the best, hopefully the next month or so will go in quick for you!

Hi Norman, congrats on your new car!  Was a pleasure, glad you are liking the car.

Be lovely to see the odd pic of it against some of your beautiful Scottish scenery, a bit more exciting than the East Kent countryside or my boring driveway, lol.

Hope you get as much enjoyment out of the Mk6 GTI as I did.

You should have told them that you only drive autos. You stand a better chance of getting a 'better' car then.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Tbh Simon, as it's temporary, I'm not bothered what car I'm driving in between, or that it's a manual.  I like to drive one every now and then just to remember what it's like.  They did ask if I wanted an auto and I said I wasn't fussed.  The Audi drives well for what it is, just prefer Golf cabin. Oh and white is not for me, lol.

I was actually quite pleased when they said they couldn't get a GTD.  It's good to go down step before moving to the R.  Will make it feel more special, different and black!
