Saturday update..

Been playing around today and i discovered that the coil  is only pushing 9v down towards the dizz when you turn the car over not even enough juice to make a difference or a spark tbh.. basically the power out from the coil is kaput and i think the secondary windings have gone under load maybe i shouldn't have carted 20 x25kg bags of gravel around in the boat for 2 trips and all the concrete out of the garden to the skips as well...still looked lowered at the time....

Prepares to sell left lung to vw for a new coil..

Neither sir shedalot just went stone dead after i turned it off down the skips maybe he wanted to stay..  had to be towed home bty the AA turns out that the coil and the crank sensor went at the same time just worked the old boy to death i suppose..

I would take the coil off and clean all the electrical components and make sure the earth wire is clean as well stick it back on the car and try it out maybe the coil you put on the car is breaking down under load after a being used for a while the coil i have on the car now came off a 1996 16v mk3 but if the one you have put on is smaller i would either do a parts search and check out the part numbers or ring vw spares and ask them to run a check against the parts list.
