Why is it so difficult?

So impatience got the better of me and I'm now on a hunt for a decent DSG 32, Polo GTI or ED30

Maybe I'm being too picky? Budget is £10,500 and I cannot find the spec I want. Issues are;

Every ED30 I find is low spec. Literally no extras.
Every 32 I find has been messed with or has high mileage.
Every Polo I find has the wrong or very low spec. I should point out I'm only looking at main dealers for polos due to the fact that they are known to have major DSG and engine issues.

So far I've found a 32 on 87000 miles in blue with super spec. But it's the mileage putting me off. It's from inchcape signature which I believe is where inchcape group put cars that they deem good but aren't good enough for the Das Welt Auto programme.

I've also found a lovely black ED30 but it's the complete bargain basement model. No extras at all, not even xenons or iPod connection.

Sigh, car hunting is so stressful.

£500 for road tax I could not pay that without feeling like the Chancellor had pulled me pants down and gone in dry.
Nice car though.

I'm Glad I got big thirsty engines out of the way when I was 21, tax was a lot cheaper and petrol was under a £1.
Something about 3.0 litre and above that makes you smile even though its like taking a black cab everywhere :grin:

DSG  :sick:

I quite like DSG/type boxes as I am lazy and have a cronked knee, but I understand why a lot don't like them outside of reliability and cost.
Driving the new A220D AMG with a 7 speed DSG and the Mk7 GTI DSG you can still feel/sense the loss in drive and the delays in shifting.

My reasoning for DSG is because I drive a company vehicle. A lot.

Every day I'm crunching gears and it's becoming a chore, therefore I want a DSG for the weekends.
I'll probably put around 2.5K miles on the car a year at absolute best. Last year I managed 1.5K miles in my MPS due to my private allowance on my company Caddy which is a 1.6T blue motion.

I drive our company Sprinter for work but I'd never even consider a horrid auto myself.

It's a manual car I'd want to be thrashing around at the weekends not a dsg thing.

I had the same thought Mart, I drive a lorry all day every day, constant gear changes, left knee starting to play up, so when I was considering a new car, I px'd my Gt TDI in for a Audi A4 8speed multitronic, thinking give the old knee a rest, totally regret it..I like to be able to 'drive' the car...my next car with be a manual!
