DSG Jerk? from take off
« on: 29 August 2015, 21:07 »
Hi,

I dont drive the gti much, my dad takes it to the shops now and then, but I notice everytime I do drive it, the take off in drive mode is extremely jerky, like I cannot get a smooth take off, unless I've hammered the car and it's really hot it's always jerky.
But after it's past first, it's fine through the gears.

Now it's not jerky in manual mode, so I've just been driving it in manual mode and using the selector to change, but I always end up with 19 mpg and probably more points lol :(

Is there a fix to this? or should I be looking at warranty as my mechatronics unit is failing? I also find that it downshifts much quicker than it did in the old GTD.

Maybe a DSG remap? or something?

How many miles has the car done? I was experincing the same thing, found out its meant to have a dsg service every 40000miles (oil and filters changed) after this the car ran fine. Hope this helps you out.

Car is just getting to over 51k DSG was serviced before I bought it at 40k, I think I need a DSG reset done through vagcom, or a software update from vw?

Yes a DSG reset fixes about 80% of issues with the box, then next option is DSG update at the dealers. If that doesnt fix it, it could be on its way out.

Do it in that order mate

got the DSG reset, no change tbh still the stupid jerk on take off from standstill in D and R, does downshift nicer though I have to say.

I think next is oil change, I mean it's been done at 40, and now I'm at 53, but my problems are only whilst it's cold, could be oil?

After I think I will go dealers and see how much they want to kill my wallet for a software upgrade.
