RCD310 vs iPod lightning connector
« on: 28 August 2015, 21:04 »
Hi folks,

Just bought a new MDI cable from eBay to allow me to use a latest generation iPod Nano with lightning connector via the MDI set-up on my Mk6 GTI. (eBay item description: AUDI VW Music AMI MMI MDI Interface AUX Cable Lead for APPLE iPhone 5 5S 5C 6 6Plus iPod Touch 5th iPod Nano 7th iPad Mini & iPad 4th With Lightening Interface).

Thought it would be a simple swap-out for the existing MDI cable (which works with my older iPod) but RCD310 doesn't seem to recognise the iPod via the new MDI cable.

Am I missing something obvious?

Apple products are well known for not recognising non genuine cables, they will often charge but not transfer the data. That could be the problem.

This. Better to get a genuine Apple adaptor/cable.  Cheap third party ones are hit and miss.
