Strange noise when on full load
« on: 26 August 2015, 09:23 »
Hello,

I have had a good search and can't really find anything. I have a strange noise when bringing the car on full boost in third and fourth gear. The sound is pretty hard to describe but is quite high pitched almost like air being forced through a tiny hole.

Background on the car...2010 GTi. Running APR Stage 1 map. The noise has really only started after I fitted an APR stage 1 + 2 intake. Could this be a boost leak or a fault with the BOV maybe? Heard that they have been known to split on remapped cars.

Any advice would be appreciated before I take it in to the garage.

Thanks.

Mick.

Update, think I have found the source of the problem. Breather pipe had come off the stage 2 intake.

Panic over for now...

Its a common problem with air intakes on the TSI/TFSI. Some are works than other, EVOMS been the worse I have tried. Its the forced air going into the turbo or a slight air leak.

Nip up all pipes and joining pieces if that breather pipe doesnt fix it.
