New panel - when can I wax?
« on: 15 August 2015, 08:49 »
Hello, I have a new wing on my MK5 Golf.

It was prepared about two weeks ago. When can I wax it?

There are lots of reports about waiting 7, 30, 90 days.

Thanks

Last time I had a panel painted at an Approved VW Body shop, I was advised to wait 1 month before waxing to allow sufficient time for the paint to cure.  It's fine to wash (gently) but waxing or sealing too early will not allow the paint to harden properly.

The M4 got practically re sprayed and it was waxed within 12 hours of collecting it from the body shop, reckon you'd be fine but don't polish or apply too much pressure!
