Not sure how well known it is, but the mk7 has a self reporting facility that tells the driver why Stop/Start isn't working. It's real easy to access, so it's a great way of understanding the often "odd" behaviour of SS. Plus, the information that the driver receives updates in (almost) real time. If anyone has a need to take the car back to the dealer because of SS problems, just take a picture of the screen and show it to the service manager!

For those that haven't used the feature, the link below will describe how to access the car's SS reports:

Yes, I've used that function but sometimes the only reason stated is

"Engine must be running" (or along those lines)...

I find that if the engine is in "Eco" the system will work 90% of the time

However, i still find my self leaving the clutch fully depressed whilst in general traffic! Still adjusting driving style

It works just fine on my manual GTD. You just need to get into the habbit of knocking it out of gear and taking your foot off of the clutch.

Second nature now after 18 months.

Found it a pain the a**e in my previous manual Golf. But love it in my DSG as it depends how much pressure you apply with the brake. Light brake = engine still running. Heavier brake = Stop / Start kicks in.
