pick up day
« on: 11 August 2015, 11:02 »
picking my gti up this afternoon and wondered if there was anything apart from the obvious i should check before i take it away. Just has the dealer on saying the photocopy of my license was done properly, so could i drop it. Kindly declined so they said they'd send someone to my house to pick it up-very keen!

Make sure you get both iPod connections, you have the specific mats and the transport blocks have been removed. Also if you are about anal about the paint like me. Look it over....very carefully. VW seem to be a bit special when it comes to paintwork

They are in the suspension. Been reports of them being left in and causes a terrible ride and can obviously cause damage.

Another simple check is ensuring the key fob has the chrome GTI section attached. It usually comes as a separate in a bag in the glove box. Dealers sometimes forget to attach them.

Doubt transport blocks is still an issue as it was a while ago and Dealers had quite a few issues caused by this so pretty sure its high on list of PDI to remove. But worth asking all the same.

Paint is one should not be shy looking over as once left forecourt there is deniability and same for the Alloys. Pretty standard checks anyone should make when receiving anything new.

If really want to check at pick up you could take a Micro SD card and check the 2 inputs. Reason saying this was one of mine was faulty. But things like that are covered by warranty so damage is more the concern at pick up.

But once through that, simply enjoy! the MK7 is a really good place to be.

I wouldnt worry about the ipod lead.

I assume it will be the same as my MK7 i collected last week. You have a usb and just connect your usual apple lead and it works that way...album art etc all there

I don't think you get any leads anymore. As you say, it's now just a USB socket so your existing iPhone charger cable will work. The leads were only necessary when it was the old MDI socket.
