Nothing against BMW's per se, but why is it so hard for some to accept that for many of us a 4cyl shopping trolley in GTD/GTI/R guise, is quite good enough, nay, actually most definitely good enough?

And especially those amongst us that actually have one in our tenure in one guise or another.
A Golf is a good balance of most things and just about affordable to the masses (give or take).
Unless you modify it then it won't generally set your pulse racing but it's the right blend of "nice" at its price and size point.
A 330d is a wonderful machine.
But it's also much bigger and more expensive than a Golf.
I guess it would be nice to own both...
