Pointing and shooting, isn't that what all blokes excel at

That's why we put the toilet seat up. When we do that we are being considerate so as not to splash the seat.

That's so thoughtful.  But you still manage to get it on the floor.  Maybe you need to practice your aim or get a much bigger toilet bowl

PS: I remember a while back someone else on here being tad p!ssed off about waiting for an R with Prets.  Who was that??
People have short memories
Want to buy mine and i'll go order a 335 X-drive?
I'll pass thanks!  Yours is a sh!te manual
....with dodgy ACC

Yes, Matt has a clunky manual (with clutch slip by now!), dodgy ACC, Prets with Bridgestones and no DCC so a ride as hard as a corpse on Viagra, but most of all a really dodgy colour: Lapiz which reminds me of Washable Blue Quink Ink.

No clutch slip yet - but I imagine the clutch on my courtesy Up! only has days or weeks left, it was stinking when going up any kind of incline. Never had a dodgy clutch yet on 7 previous VWs, it would be really disappointing to have it happen to this one.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

He can't help it, he has yet to see the DSG light.  He is resisting well atm, but I'm sure he can be worn down if we try hard enough (maybe as hard as your copse/Viagra analogy )

Quink ink!  That takes me back.  DSG; Biro, rollerball, gel pens.......where will it all end!

I will rue the day DSG becomes compulsory. Reliant on a relatively dumb computer to make your changes for you, trying hard to get you straight up to a tall gear or hanging on every gear to red line - there seems little middle ground for it to interpret the throttle, slightly more economical on the test cycle, but generally thirstier in real life (when I have borrowed my dad's GTD when he's flown on holiday from Newcastle airport, I get 10% lower mpg than my own GTD when I had it), and they want £1500 for it. Many downsides for anyone not in constant gridlock, but you do get 0.2s 0-62 bragging rights (utilising the launch control) if that means a lot to you.

Just reminded me of a reason for me not to get a 335 X-drive, only available in auto.

I do like the Lapiz - looking a smidge darker than Cobalt blue on a bright day, looking more Cadburys purple on a crappy day. Red for a GTI/GTD, not so good on a standard Golf or an R (plainer front end of the R makes it look a lot like an SE/GT)

I will also rue the day DSG becomes 'compulsory' but not for your reasons.  I believe in having a choice.

Everyone is different, and not wishing to sound arrogant but the mpg is never very high up in my consideration.  So I really couldn't care less about a 10% mpg saving with manual over DSG.  By the same token, I also couldn't care less about gaining 0.2s at 0-62, at the traffic light rally.  In Canterbury, once you've gone through any set of traffic lights, it's only about 5-10 metres before you hit the next line of traffic anyway

Purple cars.....no

I really don't care about mpg either. It is what it is. + or - 10% is neither here nor there. What is here and there is the clunkiness of a manual car. Horrid things IMO.

Anyway, get a Diesel if fuel economy or lack of bothers. Even better, get a fast BMW Diesel. There, we are back on topic.

You need to learn some clutch control.  I do find the DSG quite jerky in the 2>1 downchange whenever i'm in one. 10% on the mpg front might not seem much, but it is significant when people choose DSG thinking that their mpg is going to be better.

Anyone primarily choosing DSG for it's mpg benefits is missing the point of it!

At least with those colour seats and RWD you can disguise the evidence when the arse end steps out in the wet after a bit of over exuberance.  :smug:
