Mk2 turbo with volvo dizzy and injectors?
« on: 03 August 2015, 22:30 »
So as in the title, ish... At some point, hopefully in the near future I'm planning on turbo'n my mk2. I'm building up the things I need, and the setup I've got requires a fifth injector and a micro-fueler to manage it. I've heard on the vine that its somehow possible to use the injectors from a volvo (Bosch parts, 315cc) and the volvo dizzy. Has anyone heard of this setup, or of using a similar setup, or knows of a way around it so I don't have to end up splashing out on some micro management for the fifth injector. Or I suppose, similarly, if there isn't a way around it, can anyone recommend a good micro management fueler type thingi that will help get the ball rolling???

Maybe?!... Its a new venture so I'm going to be kind of learning as I'm going along. I know that as the boost increases the fuel should get richer to keeps the ratios right, so if there's an electrical boost sensitive switch, I'm guessing as the boost increases the electrical output increases, then yeah may be of some use???

Forgive my ignorance, but why the need for a 5th injector?

I haven't read about that with anyone else who has turbo'ed their 8v

MORE POWER!!!... I guess? The kit I'm building up is old skool. It is ment to 'bolt on' to the stock engine, ie with the standard injectors, hence the need for the extra injector to richen the air/fuel mixture as the boost increases. Weirdly enough as you've asked tho, would I be able to get away with just running it on 4 injectors at 315cc with a G60 setup? Would the G60 management just automatically richen the mixture to match the boost. As said, its a new venture so its a learning process too.

As we're on the subject (ish) would a G60 throttle body bolt on to the standard Gti inlet manifold? It would be a lot easier to have the throttle body in the same position as the Gti throttle body on the left, just as the pipe work I have is made for that setup!

Well I found some info from vortex, but not what I was looking for...

"I'm running a volvo 240 turbo fuel distributor, porsche 924 turbo air flow meter, volvo 240t WUR (enriches mixture under boost), and a volvo 240t ignition canister to retard timing under boost."

All good if you have K-jet!

Well maybe useful info to somebody.

Don't people boosting 8v's just whack a turbo on it, stack head gaskets and use megasquirt for the management?

I'm all for doing things differently, but a turbo'ed 8v is hardly common to start with!
