I never notice the R as too understated
I did give the thumbs up to a stunning T5 at the weekend ...  :undecided:

Haven't quite got my GTi yet but will happily acknowledge fellow performance Golf drivers (even though I was an Audi driver!). Having said that, there seems to be very few round my way, saw a grey R being washed at Tesco recently and one GTi and the occasional GTD and that's it!

Some (many, very many) years back when I had a Lotus Excel, I used to exchange pleasentries with an XJS driver and I do kind of like the camaraderie. Wasn't so keen when I was driving my OH's 1972 Beetle as I didn't really like driving it...

I think other forums put you off fratinising with fellow owners

Had plenty of random people in other marques want to chat about the R

Its won over a few where i sprint it as there are requests for a passenger ride

R ownership is a bit like Scirocco ownership in terms of great at first and then with the hundrum it attracted a broader ownership over and above those who liked the heritage

R brand should have always been GTI-R for em, i get where people come from on this totally as there is about 10 years in R form

Dropping my son to five a side practice the other Sunday I had not one but two mk5 Golfs do some ridiculous overtakes in 30 limits.
One on the way there and one on the way back.
Maybe they were trying to impress me?
