Hi Kash-Jnr!

I'm new here too and also waiting on my GTI but I succumbed to the lure of the shorter wait of an ex-demo. Wanted a carbon grey PP dsg and ended up with a red manual PP!

I've found this forum to be a mine of useful information and trusted contacts already and although I've lurked far more than interacted, people do seem very friendly.
2019 Oryx White 5dr TCR.

Was - 2015 Tornado Red 3dr GTI PP, manual, Santiagos, Audi short shifter.

Hi,

It's a great forum, lots of info.

Having ordered mine in March found its best to try to ignore the tracker for a good few months until you get a confirmed build and then it goes pretty quick and sure will be worth the wait.

I'm at stage 6 in UK and should be at dealer next Saturday

Have GTI PP, Pearl black, 3 door, Dynaudio, dynamic chassis, climate screen and telephone prep and lucked out on getting free nav, keyless and winter pack (heated light washers, heated seats and screen wash fluid).

Can't wait

Hi

Just can't wait any longer to be honest, so gonna go ahead and get it rather than wait. Took ages to choose spec, can't wait to Hear Dynaudio having read some great reviews.

Hi Kash!

You've come to the right place for great GTI info. Some knowledgeable peeps on here.

You're right to point out the decent standard spec on the GTI/GTD's. Even more so on the one you're ordering. Lots on here were early adopters, like me, and didn't get Nav, Keyless and heated seats as standard so count yourself lucky!

I hope you don't find the GTI underpowered coming from an M135i?

H5O

Hey H50,

Thanks for your reply! Yeah I'm really surprised with the standard equipment and was well chuffed once I found out the winter pack was standard then the dealer told me keyless entry/start was standard. They weren't very forthcoming with the detailers unfortunately and I only kind of found out once I was on the configurator and some options had disappeared.

I reckon it will feel slightly underpowered but to be fair, real world performance it was way too much for the roads. Was a complete shambles in the wet and kinda took the fun out of driving cause it just got to 100 in a blink of an eye. The two previous cars before the M135i were both MINI's and I had way way way much more fun in them besides that the M135i was just amazing on a sunny day (very rare where I live). The engine is a peach! Plus I've noticed in a few places the quoted 0-60 of 6.5 seconds for the GTI is a bit high considering on some reviews they get 5.7-5.9 :)

Kash: Is it a GTI you're getting? I can see every option on your car, but not whether you're getting a GTI/GTD (it has to be one of those 2 on Santiagos). I'm assuming GTI from your Avatar.

You'll be using the tracker a lot to see a daily lack of progress on your build, then all of a sudden, build to delivery happens in the blink of an eye.

You'll find plenty of useful info in here.

Hi MH, yeah its the GTI, tried a GTE too. 30 or so mile electric range was a bit off putting. Plus 9 month waiting list is looooong lol. I think it has a good selection of options. Wouldn't have minded the PP but should be grateful for what we get! :)

You've got all the right things: 5 doors; DSG; Deep Black Pearl.  Anything else is a bonus

Welcome Junior Kash!

Conversely you obviously don't like driving so picked an autobox and you either love cleaning (black and Santiagos) or have a huge tolerance of heartbreak
Only joking!

Great spec, lovely car, but somewhat less lively than the beast that it's replacing. Still, there are ways to improve that and lessen the gap between a GTI and a 135i as I'm sure you're aware...

Has to be an autobox! Too many miles for a manual :( currently pottering around in an E class, manual
You're right there! I love cleaning, bit of a detailer on the weekend. I'm over on DetailingWorld also!

I don't want to void my warranty, wouldn't mind a few mods ;)

Very very nice spec mate! Pretty much specced out to the eyeballs there! I'm dying to know when my confirmed build will be :(

Also negotiated with the dealer that they would lend me a car for a month! So looking forward to that too!

Thanks, particularly looking forward to the PP and the Dynaudio which the forum feedback has been really positive on.

It's worth pushing for a courtesy car VW UK after a lot of pushing provided an A4 for the last 6 weeks given the delays which allowed me to sell my car. They do only tend to do it after the expected delivery date though, unless you can get something from your dealer.
