VCDS - UDS Protocol
« on: 29 July 2015, 20:38 »
All,

Those with a Mk7 golf and vcds will notice that it uses the UDS protocol for measuring all sorts.  This is the option to use to check your dpf etc and has a full drop down alphabetical list of everything.  You will notice that the old way of using measuring blocks 08 can't be used and is greyed out.  I have just started a service regen on the drive just to see if it works & it does

Regeneration in CR-TDI Engines with UDS Control Modules
For engine controllers that use the UDS protocol (as shown on the top left corner of the Open Controller screen), no Security Access is needed.

Prerequisites (General):
Ignition ON
Engine ON (Idle)
Fuel Tank at least 1/4 full
Transmission in Neutral/Park
Coolant Temperature above 70 °C
Power Consumers ON (Light, Seat Heating, Front/Rear Window Heater, Climate Control)
Engine Hood Closed
[Select]
[01 - Engine]
[Basic Settings - 04]
Use the pulldown menu and select Service regeneration of particle filter
[Go!]
[Show Measuring Data]
It would be useful to select items such as "Particle filter, soot mass calculated", "Particle filter, soot mass measured", and "Particle filter, time since last regeneration" to observe and verify the progress of the regeneration.
Due to the way UDS works, there may be differences in the locations and specific description for the values so you may need to search for the values you need.
Follow the Instructions on the Screen. These may include pressing and/or holding the brake, clutch, or accelerator.
[Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

I'm sure someone on here has mentioned before it has "time since last regeneration" and also how full it is.
Where it is though in VCDS I haven't a clue.

On the old PD engines it was blocks 70-75

Normally if you go to measuring blocks or advanced blocks within the engine module it will bring up a long list and you can scroll and select from there

As already stated measuring blocks 08 is greyed out so you have to use advanced and just scroll through the list

Select Engine, then as below select adv meas Values then pick from the drop down box that appears. All DPF stuff is noted as Particulate Filter in the menu.  Hope this helps
