Removing under seat drawer?

The only time my drawers are used is by confused passengers trying to move the seat forwards/backwards.

I agree a cat io possibly small rodent (avoiding any combination of the 2), is the clear solution. Booth - one thing the internet has taught me is cats will sit in very small cardboard boxes if left hanging around, could be a suitable packaging option?

Removal

–  Unbolt front seat and tilt it towards rear. Do not remove seat completely → Chapter.
–  Remove bracket for seat trim
–  Remove any objects from the storage compartment -2-.
–  Pull out compartment -2-.
–  Remove bolt -3-.
–  Close storage compartment -2-.
-  Remove bolt -1-.
–  Lower storage compartment -1- at front of seat -2-.
–  Pull storage compartment -1- towards front in direction of travel.
–  Remove storage compartment -1- from mountings -arrow- on left and right.

Installing

Install in reverse order, but note the following:
–  Ensure that the retainer for side trim is properly engaged in mounting on storage compartment.

I don't think the MK7 has electric lumbar support. That was dropped after the MK6.

    Really?  So no adjustable lumbar support or just not electrically controlled?   Do you have to blow the thing up yourself!

Shame if that's the case.  Cheapskates - more cost cutting

'Tis very true, a cat likes a box!  In fact this very morning as I left the house for work, I noticed one of my cat's tails sticking out of a box waiting to be recycled (the box not the cat).  Obviously his choice of bed for today's 18 hour nap! 

Though I adore felines, I loath the plethora of stupid internet/facebook/youtube cat antic videos.  Almost as much as I hate 'friends' on facebook who post daily (sometimes hourly!) uplifting spiritual messages    That's why I spend my time on car forums

Rebecca, I think the leather seats have the same manual lumbar adjustment as the cloth seats. 99% sure the electric adjustment isn't in the MK7.

EDIT: I'm 100% it is manual adjustment. I just looked up a few pics of leather'ed MK7's on my phone

Thanks Joe.  Ah well, no matter.

I did do a quick google image search but most of the photos seem to cut off at the crucial point!  Is is a little lever then?  Not a big deal, I never have any lumbar support on anyway but my partner is forever messing with it.  Maybe having the inconvenience of having to do it manually will put him off and I won't have to reset it after he's used the car

Yeah, it's a little lever. The Mk5/6 had a rotary knob but the MK7 is different. I can't remember the last time I ever adjusted it in the GTI tbh. Here's a pic!

Thanks.  I was looking in the wrong place!  I saw that lever and thought it was for moving the seats on a 3 door forward for access to the rear.  Never had a 3 door Golf so know no better 

The little rocker switch on the mk5/6 is handy if you do adjust the seats.  Mk8 will have manual wind down windows at this rate

The handle to fold the seats forward in a 3 door is up at the top near the head rest.

Just what I needed to see but not what I wanted to see! As it involved tipping the seat and undoing bolts something is bound to do wrong if I attempt it (years of DIY experience has taught me I'm useless) and I'd probably get rid of the crumbs and end up with a creaking seat forever more, which would quickly drive me insane.
The vacuum cleaner it is.
Mind you I doubt I'll use the car again this week and possibly not next week either so I'll have probably forgotten the crumbs are there until next time I need to transport gluten free cakes slices.

I did spend a fair bit of time on my knees seeing if the drawer was just clipped in underneath like a mk6 drawer but alas Mr N's diagram pics prove otherwise. My workmates did wonder what I was up to, kneeling on the ground hanging out of the drivers footwell. They didn't believe me when I said it was prayer time.


Back to more interesting things: My old neighbour's ginger (female) cat used to like getting inside empty carrier bags when we were putting shopping away. Then her housemate white (female) cat used to climb in the peg box when we were hanging washing out. Well I say "we", I generally supervised and made tea...

As for Facebook! Noooooooo! I used to have an account years ago but binned it. Too many adverts and pop ups on the phone for no reason, too much crap on there. Too many crap people on there!

Then no reply to the dozens of nosey/caring "friends" only for the original poster to appear a few days later with some photo showing what a great life they're having.... go figure...
