Are there really people here who think that fitting a loud exhaust to their car is not illegal?

I think you believe that I want an exhaust loud enough to set off car alarms or something ridiculous like that. I literally want some more noise, I'm only really thinking as loud as an R or a focus ST not something ridiculous

You have a 'grown-up' hot hatch. Perhaps the Focus ST would have been more suitable.

Just because a car makes a louder noise than a gti does not make it at all infantile. Besides I'd just like to clarify the GTI is the car I wanted. The Car I got, it's interior quality was a big issue for me because I am going to spend a lot of time in there.

I'm not saying I want an St in anyway I just want to increase the noise level slightly. The R is perfectly grown up too, but it makes more noise than the GTI

Seriously remove the rear silencer, it will increase the noise. If you want the car to be louder and sound better, get a downpipe and sports cat

Get a Remus exhaust. You get quad pipes like the R and a deeper noise than the stock GTI exhaust. Plus a nice looking rear diffuser.

Turn up the bass and tune into the am frequency between stations, hey presto a deep growl that is throttle controlled.

The reason people have called it infentile is because you asked for a louder exhaust, not a better sounding, better performing exhaust. Many people have asked the same question but didn't get this response. I agree the GTI is too quiet, I was looking at replacing it aswell....and I did with an a R.
