Gtiless, do you know whether that car is post BW22 spec? If so then the price isn't unreasonable for an immediate delivery but I'd push for near top book price on your current car to even the deal out. Get a proper CAP valuation of your car rather then a WBAC quote.
The dealership will be well aware of their sales targets and whether or not they can shift an in stock car in time for the bonus trigger (assuming that's what they're aiming at). Let it run towards the end of the month maybe and see if they get itchy.
Depending on the age of your part ex all you can do is balance up the maths between having the new car in your hand now versus any likely repair costs on your old car and its likely depreciation (which will speed up the nearer it gets towards Christmas then slightly recover around March depending on what it is); then bear in mind your new car will also depreciate very rapidly in that same six month order period. You might find a new order gets built quicker if you don't spec Pretorias (assuming you're dead set on an R?).
A dealer knows they can command a reasonable price on an 'in stock' desirable car with a long waiting list, even versus a broker deal through their business fleet department which therefore comes (generally) with a worse part ex proposition. So if going solely through the retail side of the dealership then the best way to slant the figures slightly is by presenting your part ex in excellent condition and pushing for the best possible price on that. It's all in the cost to change figure at the end of the day.
There's no perfect solution, it's just trying to get the best deal at the time you're ready for the move.
