No, what I'm saying is that 10-12 weeks is the typical norm for Irish cars. My wait has totally been the exception! If I'd not spec'd the prets my car would probably have been here in late May but then I'd probably have missed the bw22 updates too.

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood.

There's an upside to your lengthy wait at least.  And let's hope those Prets are also worth the wait for both of us, even better if they are encased in Conti 5s on arrival.

There are various Conti 5P tyres.

Some are B/F rated:
http://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/car-tyres/continental/conti-sportcontact-5p/235-35-r19-91-y-xl-fr.html

Some are A/F rated:
http://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/car-tyres/continental/conti-sportcontact-5p/235-35-r19-tl-91-y-xl-fr-r02.html

Some are A/C rated:
http://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/car-tyres/continental/conti-sportcontact-5p/235-35-r19-tl-91-y-xl-fr-ao.html

Some are A/G rated:
http://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/car-tyres/continental/conti-sportcontact-5p/235-35-r19-91-y-xl-fr-r01.html

All rated at 72dB. So nearly just as noisy as the Bridgestones which are rated at 73 dB.

I wonder which ones will be fitted to the Prets?

The ones on the Cadiz I saw yesterday were stamped "A0". Presumably the 3rd one you've listed above.
MK8.5 GTI Clubsport. Moonstone grey. Queenstown 19’s. DCC. Harmon Kardon sound. Pano roof.

I've got the R02 version on my current car and they have been faultless.  Anything better would be a bonus.  dB rating is fine, familiar with the noise, which is acceptable..

Of course VW may yet dash hopes   :undecided:

Just had the fronts of my GTI changed to ContiSportContact 5's two days ago and all I can say is WOW!
The Crapstones were bald after 18,500 miles! Delighted they're gone, traction was appalling for what's supposed to be a 'performance car'!
On hardISH cornering now with a slight lift off I can really feel the rear wanting to come around as if the Bridgestones are on their limit - the Contis are superb and give a lot more confidence to chuck it in on empty roundabouts! :P

Was at my VW Dealer today. Brand new GTIs with 18" wheels are still coming with Bridgestones! Then I popped into Honda. The Type R comes with ContiSportContact 6P tyres in 235/35 ZR 19Y size.

Oh, if only the R would come with these!!!  We really do do badly on the tyre front with VW!  Maybe the Mk8 R will get them by which time Conti will be issuing the CSC 7P.  Always one step behind

Asker, the Honda doesn't have 4wd so would fall out of your buying criteria and that alone.

I was just chatting to a guy with an R32 yesterday, he had just put on some Bridgestones I'd sourced him off a forum that had been removed from a new R. We were discussing the fact that all the UK cars seem to come with that brand and were trying to guess why.
I wonder if it has anything to do with VW's own testing and the fact that UK buyers don't tend to have winter and summer tyres so maybe the Bridgestones meet some criteria as an all year round tyre? Clutching at straws here.

Exonian - they are an all-seasons tyre in that they're slippery and useless in the Summer and Winter!
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
