First of all, i've been browsing this site for a couple of weeks now as I started my search for a new car and finally decided to sign up once I'd decided that GTI was what I was after.

So after all the test drives and visits, I have decided upon the GTI mk7, 3 door.

However, I have a couple of questions/advice to ask.
This car is going to be my first 'showroom' car, from new, so I know the price advertised is not what I will be paying, I was wondering what the ballpark figure was to pay?

And what actual MPG do you guys get

Price very depends on your spec if it's a factory order you are talking about.  Also depends on how you are purchasing; via a broker or direct from a dealer etc, and what level of discount you can negotiate.  Best discount is usually obtained going via brokers and varies but you can get in the region of 10-12% perhaps more if there is a contribution available if you are taking out a finance deal.  Some dealers will come close to similar levels of discount if you take in a broker quote to bargain with, others won't come close.  There are many variables.

My advice is to post your questions in the Mk7 section and post your chosen spec.  Plenty in that section to give advice about this and the mpg info too.
