Post build week 22, new owner a week away
« on: 13 July 2015, 21:29 »
Evening all,

I've been meaning to post for ages but couldn't remember my password since I was posting in the Mk5 section a couple of years ago.

I'm back, finally managed to convince my company to let me order a Mk7 GTI, I love them (Golf's that is)! I was lucky enough to order a new S3 last year but couldn't really afford it and changed job so it had to go after 8 months, loved it but feel more comfortable with a GTI for some reason.

Anyway, as I was stretching my company car budget I had to get a standard GTI though did manage to squeeze 5 doors, Dynaudio and the comfort pack in black. We did it through Carwow, it worked out very good value, we've financed it as it came in nearly £1500 cheaper though going to pay it straight off.

Very pleased with the spec of the Mk7 GTI, even more so with dynaudio and comfort pack BUT, I think I'm one of the lucky ones as when VW announced the new spec my car hadn't been scheduled to be built, it was built 3 weeks after and I'm just waiting for it to arrive at the dealer, should be tomorrow. My slight concern is (though I can reluctantly live with it) is, I asked my dealer to confirm 2 weeks ago that its the later spec, she's not returned my emails nor calls, I have a feeling she is avoiding me until the car physically arrives and she can tell me. How sure is everyone that my car will be a later one ? Is it guaranteed that post build week 22 car will be the later spec? Does anyone know?

Loving the website everyone, can't wait to get the car now. I really loved my Mk5 but think this will be quite different. Looking forward to having a fast manual car too as had DSG on my last fast VAGS.

Thanks a lot,

Russ

If it was built on or after week 22 it will have the MY2016 spec (MIB II radio, etc) plus whatever spec adjustments VW UK are now offering.
The dealer can tell this at a glance by the way! It'll be in their system. Build week / MY2015 / MY2016.

As above, including:

Keyless
DNS
Winter pack

One would assume!

Welcome btw

Thanks Chaps, I thought that to be the case, just wanted to make sure.

I assume the build week means the week in the year, i.e, build week 22 = 22nd week of the year? (spot the newbie..)

Exactly. We're currently in week 29. It's a bit sad that I know this but this is what VW have done to me lol

Sorry Booth, I wondered that as I typed.

I see you post a lot here and your favourite colour for the GTi is "flat black"

I was a little worried when I saw what you wrote but I'm sure standard black will be fine, would have liked the dark grey or metallic black but hey ho...

Racking my brains to remember what derogatory remarks I might have made about flat black   What did I write?  Maybe in relation to my mate refusing to shell out for pearl black on his GTD??  I write a lot of crap on here

I'm sure standard black will be fine, just watch out for those swirls

What is the 'Comfort Pack' - not come across that before?
