V6 4 Motion 3 door versus 5 door - are they interchangeable

Hi,

 ok Im sure the answer to this is a a definite 'no they are different sizes' but I need to check.

Some complete turd drove into my mates 2002 v6 4 motion today and opened up the corner of the off side drivers door like a tin of corned beef, so now he's needing a replacement in silver for a 3 door golf of that era.

I'm assuming that any drivers door from a 3 door golf will do and that all trim items are interchangeable and not bespoke to a v6 4 motion? (like electric mirrors can still fit without fabrication into the manual mirrored door etc etc)

Lastly, seems that all doors in silver on ebay of that general era are paint code 'LA7W'. Is that a safe assumption to make? To be fair, will probably be driving to a breakers in the car to get it so can check the paint code there and then but worth asking while im here. Might save a wasted journey.

Any help you can give on the above is much appeciated, cheers

That's the correct paint code for that year (reflex silver).
5 door front doors are quite a bit shorter.
Any 3 door will fit and the trim/electrics is all interchangeable  

You might lose a few trim clips along the way, but a fairly easy job with a mate to help lift the doors, as they are bloody heavy.
