Remap Removal...
« on: 06 July 2015, 21:23 »
Hi...

Please read this question carefully as others on another forum don't seem to be able to...

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I TAKE MY CAR TO A MAIN DEALER CAN THEY REMOVE THE FLASH / MAP I HAD PUT ON MY CAR SO I CAN TRADE / SELL IT ON AND THE NEW OWNER NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH TD1 AND WARRANTY CLAIMS...

It's as easy as that, I don't want to hide it cos I have an issue or problem... NOTHING UNDER HAND

Thanks

Once it's got the td1 flag I don't think it can be reset for a new owner. To be honest though if you're buying a 2nd hand car you won't ever know what's gone on before you've bought it.

Im pretty certain taking it to a dealer will end up at best with a standard map.....but a TD1 flag.

I do know if your map is a Revo....then a Revo dealer can flash your ECU back to OEM with no TD1 issues. Im uncertain if they can flash back to OEM if the map is not a Revo.....but it maybe worth contacting your local Revo dealer

Hope that helps in some way

If you take it to a main dealer they can flash it back to stock, but you WILL void your warranty. All big tuning companies have OEM maps for each car, they can restore your map and almost certainly won't have any issues down the line.

Trust me I'm the man to know about maps and TD1 flags. I had 14 warranty claims on my GTI in a year, with 4 major repairs and a diagnostic being sent to VW, all with my revo map in place.

They won't look for it, but if you tell them. You'll lose the warranty

Did a revo dealer tell you this? Unfortunately it's bo44ocks as once it's flagged as td1 it can't be removed no matter what.

That's not what in saying....if it hasn't been flagged a revo dealer can flash back to oem....then you won't be flagged.

If you've had a remap it will be flagged in the ecu so makes no difference if revo put an oem map back on.

Read the first post in this thread.
I'm unsure how genuine it is but it seems believable:
http://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/8351-bulletin-posted-to-audi-dealers-this-morning/

It answers questions about selling the car with a map on and the TD1 removal. The warranty gets reinstated once the dealership reflash the car.
As Martin's car is a mk6 then how much warranty is there left anyway?

Hmm would seem that the td1 will disappear when new ECU updates are done. Apologies to all

The key thing there is;

Quote
Q. Can the TD1 code be reversed?
A. Yes. If an approved software update is detected and applied during the diagnosis process, the TD1 code will be removed from our service systems.
