Hi all.
Got a 8v on bike carbs. A lot of the wiring has changed but the ignition system is virtually unchanged though.
Car was intermittent to start for a while. So I pinned it down to the king lead. Changed that and it was okay till the coil (approx 1yr old) died. I replaced it. Struck it up, then off then struck it up etc etc a few times to ensure that is was okay. Went 2miles to the supermarket and it ran fine. 1.5miles home and it cut out dead whilst driving along.
Checked it all over again and narrowed it down to a failed coil. Got a replacement on guarantee and it's still dead.
So I've checked the knock sensor. Seems to be okay...! So the issue that is now baffling me is the fact that coil pack plug has two earths and one power. One pin is 12v one is earth and the middle pin is dead. Until I switch the ignition on and the middle pin slowley turns to a full earth over around 20 seconds. Which is mega odd.
I've traced all wires back to the ECU for continuity etc.
My instant thought is there is an short occurring in the ECU when the ignition is on...! Is this possible?
I really hope someone can help. I'm currently on the verge of breaking the bloody heap... Thought about mega jolt but can't really afford it as it stands.
I will be eternally grateful of any of you have any ideas.
