hi there

the wife recently bought a brand new mk7 (1.2L).  Two questions:

she's been using the USB stick to listen to music.  I noticed that when i switch the car off, take the key off and lock it, the usb light (the one that's on the back of most usb flash drives) continues bleeping.  Does that mean it continues using battery power?  Should i be removing the usb every time i switch off the car?

also, she got the car to work yesterday, the Multifunction display only came on after she got to work (about 15 miles from home), switched the car off and back on again.  First time this happens in 3 months owning the car.

I use a USB in my both my MK7 GTI and R. Both continue to flash for a minute or so then go off. Certainly wouldn't worry about power drain.

When you say MFD do you mean the display between the Rev counter and speedo or do you mean the composite media system?

I had my CMS not come on a few times in my GTI and had to restart the engine. Never got it checked because it was an intermittent fault, and VW techs wouldn't have a clue

I wouldn't be personally. Unless it's repeatable, nothing could be done. I have had loads of minor glitches like that. Never happens twice

i was thinking of maybe asking the garage to check it out when i take the car for its first oil change.  hopefully the issue won't persist tho
