Service Interval Display
« on: 18 June 2015, 09:50 »
Quick question - whenever you get a service and the dealer resets the display for next service due on the dash does it then take time to give an output?  I.e. mine is currently just sitting at blank and I have done about 100 miles since collecting it.

My GTD is on a longlife service plan when I purchased it, i.e. has been done around every 20K miles.  When I got it back after my first service last week they had a note in the service book to show next service due at 10K miles.  I assume this is the dealers way of trying to get more money out of me?  Main reason why I want to check what the interval display outputs and make sure they haven't just switched it off!

Thanks

My GTD is now on a fixed 10k service interval, time and slfistance servicing is not exactly the best!

You can reset the time to next service display using the MFD. When reset, it takes a few hundred miles to start the new countdown.

The dealer (or VCDS) can change the service interval countdown from variable to time/distance. Even tho' my Passat should have been on longlife, it asked for a service after 10,000 miles. I phoned the dealer what service they had given it. The had given it an intermediate service, but the only difference between that and a major one was the pollen filter. They suggested just resetting the MFD and leaving the service for another 10,000 miles.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Dubber - makes sense then as currently the service display is just sitting with -- on it for both miles & time.  So it must have been reset - I wasn't sure if there was a delay until starting the new countdown.  I will try and be patient :)

Will see then if they have changed the method.  Hopefully not.  I got a minor with a pollen filter.
