MDI Leads
« on: 17 June 2015, 07:51 »
Hi Guys, have MDI socket (with Nav Pro) in my 2013 GTD. I mainly use it with an old IPod touch (30 pin connector) and everything works fine (cable supplied with the car).

I also have an Iphone 6, and occasionally use that instead. I have the following cable -- 5N0 035 554 H (dark green collar and lightning connector), and it works fine for music (shows album art etc), but doesn't show the Video menu that my Ipod touch does. Is there a later cable that would work with Video on the lightning equipped Iphone's or do I have the latest version ?

Also, whilst I'm at it, I was also supplied with an MDI to USB lead (part number 5N0 035 558 - No revision No), but this doesn't work at all with the Iphone. Again, is there a USB lead version that works with the above ?

TBH, the USB one would probably be the best as I could then plug in a) Ipod Touch b) Iphone 6 c) Wife's Samsung Android Phone and d) a USB memory stick. But I don't know if a USB adaptor lead exists for the MDI in the MK7 golf that allows full functionality across all these devices (Music, album art, Videos etc), so any advice gratefully received ?

is it not possible to use the 30 pin plus a lightning adapter? That's what I was hoping to do?
