queries after 2k of driving..
« on: 16 June 2015, 10:21 »
Ok, so I got my GTD in March - loving my car :) but I have a couple of queries;

The auto handbreak.. Sometimes it will auto release when i go to move off, but other times it requires me to put my foot on the break and release it by hand, what decides this - is it whether I'm on level ground?

Tramping. I've read a few people use this word - but I've no idea what it means, wheel spin?!

Wiggly back end. A couple of times I've put my foot down to over-take, lots of power-  but as I accelerate the back end feels very light and tends to wiggle a bit. Is this where the sport and sound - rear stabilizer would have helped (I didn't go for it...)?

Auto hold will only ask you to put your foot on the brake if you are manually releasing it... which you only have to do if you don't have your seatbelt on... put your seatbelt on :)

Tramping, yes, wheel spin and harmonics through the front suspension caused by massive torque from stand still. Bridgestones are one contributing factor...

Only ever had a wiggly rear once... coming out of a junction rather quickly. Rest of the time she's as well behaved as anything, ever pushing pretty hard.

Also, if you havent got the seatbelt on.... the auto hold won't engage automatically either.... you have to pull it on manually.

Have you tried using the auto-hold function next to the handbrake switch?  Enable it and it should fix any hill start issues with the handbrake.

If you are having problems with the rear losing grip under acceleration then something is clearly wrong. This is a front wheel drive car... when under acceleration all the load is on the rear and therefore the lion's share of the grip... this is why front wheel drive cars never make particularly good dragsters  :smiley:

That is not to say that the chassis is not playful at the rear but in my experience it is only brought into play with a sharp life of the throttle on turn in, unless the road is very bumpy...  :evil:
