Accelerator pedal feel
« on: 13 June 2015, 22:39 »
Hi guys when accelerating the pedal comes to a point of resistance near the bottom of its travel and then it feels like a switch, like kick-down on an auto. Mine has the manual gearbox, so unexpected - anyone know the significance of this with the manual gearbox?  Also does the motor map differently in sport mode or just sound different?

If you have the car in maximum speed mode, if you put the pedal down to the limit switch it will override the maximum speed.

On a manual, if you are in Eco or Normal and need to get a move on (emergency situation that would be easier to power through perhaps, or an overtaking opportunity arises), then pushing into the clicky zone allows the car to behave as if it is in sport/race mode and give you everything without a blunted throttle response.

Thanks for the replies.  So the it seems to be a kind of mode override switch.  Out of interest is it the same on the R?  I hit it a few times during the "run in" period, hopefully not overstressed anything :undecided:

Yep, my R has it too. Wouldn't worry about putting your foot down a few times during run-in - as long as the oil was warm when you did.

It certainly was and always is.  When I start off I always have oil temp displayed in the MFD and drive gently until it's up to around 100C regardless of run in.  I have always done this with my cars.  I was just a bit worried about this one as the power is awesome compared to previous cars - guess the motor can handle it
