ACC sensor fault

My car came up with a warning message to tell me that the ACC sensor was unresponsive or not working (I forget the exact wording), and then the little speedo symbol for ACC went from white to amber in the MFD. This happened a few miles into my journey, when negotiation a long shallow bend at about 75mph, and disappeared about a mile later.

Anyone else had this?

Yeah I had this once or twice as well...

One was a plastic bag stuck to front of the car, the second was at spirited driving where the car thought a few times a tree or car coming the other way was right in front of me triggering a few "brake or crash" kinda warnings

Same as mine. After a strong acceleration the ACC symbol appears. Went to my local dealer and change something about the "engine advance" that suppose to be the cause of acc malfunction.

Today it happened again...

It was by no means the hardest acceleration I did today, but it was on a long sweeping bend with nothing in front of me. I thought that maybe the car's ACC response thought a turn/bend that long was an implausible event and threw a bit of a fit.

Not about acceleration, more about the faintest "target" the car will pick up on. If you drive it hard round a corner (don't necessarily mean foot hard down but high cornering speed) then the radar sensor can throw a fit, in particular if you are on wrong side of road and it picks up cars coming towards you (were it's clear though to you you're not gonna hit em but radar doesn't know that).

In that case the ACC system does work well, but does not enter in malfunction mode ( yellow symbol in the dashboard ) - "ACC and front assist not available"

If you can, Please check the error type with Vcds.

I had the same problem after I hit a badger - appreciate that this is not quite the same but the effect might be. My sensor was fine after it was recalibrated, as the impact had knocked it out of alignment. I would firstly check how secure the sensor is fixed onto the mount and see if there is any play. You could also check the connection at the rear of the sensor. Doubt this is the issue buts its worth checking.
