Parking Sensors
« on: 08 June 2015, 09:26 »
Driving to work this morning and my front parking sensors were picking up everything at the side of the road such as traffic lights, they didnt do this on saturday but i changed a few settings. Does anyone know if this is normal or is there a setting for it.

Mine does this occasionally if you're next to a beast of a truck or bus. Its a bit like the car panics.....OMFG look how big it is, its gonna kill me, get me away from it....BEEP BEEP!!!!!

Or for anyone who doesn't believe their car can actually think...It might just be them kicking up crap. Can also happen when the sensors are dirty.

Yeah, the vibrations of big lorry or bus passing by send my side sensors mad.  I sometimes get a beep if turning at a junction too, if I turn just after a car has passed me the sensors seem to think I'm trying to crash into the car that's just passed.

Its really annoying

How often does it happen it yours? I mean I may get it once every other day perhaps. nothing more than than, and generally its when I'm in traffic. Not enough to bother me.

If you're getting it all the time, you could perhaps have overly sensitive sensor one side or something?

I agree with remlapeel, it's only an occasional thing and doesn't get annoying.  I suppose you've only had your car for a few days, so maybe give it a week or so of journeys and you'll have an idea of whether your sensors are a bit too keen or not.

Sounds like you may have. I do around 350miles a week and like i said I get it maybe 3-4 times. It would drive me nuts it happening once every 1 1/2miles aswell lol

@Diehammer You must have automatic activation of ParkPilot turned on in your car settings. This activates automatically if you drive towards an object (such as traffic) below a speed 6-9mph. Take a look in the manual, it explains it all and it's activation conditions etc...if it's bothering you just switch off automatic activation. It's perfectly normal, there's nothing wrong with the car.

Tbh I've found you need to be pretty close to the object in front before it starts warning you. I rarely hear it in traffic, you must be pulling up very close to the car in front!

EDIT:
Here's the section..

It activates when you are less than 50cm from the object in front...just leave a bit more room and it shouldn't bother you.
