Interior Fan
« on: 06 June 2015, 22:16 »
Does anyone find the interior fan a bit weak. I used to run around on fan speed 1 in the mk6 but it would seem that the mk7s has really poor air flow. Anyone else found this?

Also I used to be able to drive with the front windows down and not get too much wind noise in the mk6 but the mk7 seems really noisy?

Fan is fine.

Drive with the windows down? I have a car with climate control, why would I drive with the windows down?

+1 on this. I used to love driving with my window down and hearing the turbo sound on my old car. On the GTI it's horrendous the wind noise.

The AC in the R is excellent. You can set the fan speed by turning the big knob even when in Auto mode and it will remain at that set speed.

I second what am1w has said. The climate control in the Mk 7 is superb. And if you turn the fan speed up to max it's really, really powerful. So it sounds like yours could be defective.

I'd be inclined to get a dealer to check it out for you.

speed 1 on the fan too weak? Turn it up. I doubt the top level of blow will be too much for you. Multiple speeds (more than I had on the Scirocco) mean you will find a speed that suits.

Its interesting as the mk6 one used to be really good and this one just seems poor, it could be faulty although no VCDS codes. The wind noise on the mk7 with two windows down is beyond stupid, the seatbelt even flaps really badly, its like all the wind is just going in through the window. I can only assume its due to the stupidly mounted wing mirrors. You can even get the boomy noise that does in your ears at 50+. Which usually only appears if you wind down the rear windows on a 5dr.

Auto has 3 settings.

Just press the setup button and set AC profile to strong.

Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

Its not the AC just the fan, on speed one there just doesn't seem to be much movement of air. I have it on two now and it seems to be ok.

Why not keep it on auto? As said you can choose the profile weak, medium and strong to suit your needs.
