Is my golf the right colour to the paint code.
« on: 06 June 2015, 12:26 »
This is my golf and I've been looking to get some spray paint to paint a few bits on it. My colour code is LP3G. Which is flash red from what I've read. But when I went to buy the spray can the colour on it was not even red I'd say. Or if it was a really, really dark red. So I just thought I'd ask is this colour code LP3G? If an anniversary as well if that might help.

Just phone up your local VW agency and give the paint code of your vehicle

Your paint code is on a sticker underneath your carpet in the boot.

Some touch up paints are very good but on the whole they are often a very poor match.

Genuine VW one's are usually better, especially on flat colours.

Spray cans never match off the shelf mainly cos they are sh1te.
Go to a paint specialist and have can made up to your car if you want to have a go with a rattle can.
That's what I used to do, the paint matched perfectly but I cant paint and it looked meh so I found a good body shop

Correct! Just to think new paint would match ~20 year old paint is bad. Second of all. It might be the right paint code, however there are many shades of that paintcode. I have CC yellow (LD1B) that paint code has 6 shades. I have the middle shade (went to a car painter and he checked with his thingys).
Back in the day when they painted your car they ordered lets say 10 000 liters of paint. When they needed more they checked who could give them it cheapest, thats whjy it never match in colour):

This is LD1B when they mixed it at the car painter:

This is also LD1B, but 3 shades lighter (but still LD1B):

Thanks for the help. I'm going to go get some paint mixed up. And I didn't know there was different shades. And the colour in the photos are quite different. Now I know you get different shades that will help me get the right colour.
