A/C compressor unit
« on: 05 June 2015, 18:29 »
Put my car into VW for an MOT and an A/C recharge - turns out the wiring in the back of the compressor has all melted and for now I have to put up with my window down for cold air!

Anyone else had experience with the A/C compressor unit not working / have an idea on price of fix? Dealer was suggesting it will be around £1000 mark!!!!!!

On the bright side it passed its MOT!

My compressor packed in last year. I got goodwill from vw and only paid my initial diagnostic charge £75. Apparently a known problem for the compressor to die...

Same as above poster - my compressor was not working when I purchased the car.  Ended up getting it for around £130 I think as a goodwill gesture from VW (originally they were quoting over £500)

If you have no luck. They sell cheap on german ebay and get an independent to fit it.
