I just did a quick search and found dozens of my old posts from back in 2015/16 but no pics of my car wearing 12/16mm spacers.
I know back then a few of us ran Sparco spacers and there will be photos on here if you dig deep enough but right now I can’t find them. I only had mine on a very short time before buying some 8x19 ET41 wheels so still have them in boxes looking like new. I’m sure I must have managed to post up at least one photo though! I know a few people with GTI’s did back then.

ECS Flush Kits (plenty of photos with a Google search) were/are 15/20 and sit a little too flush for my tastes but 12/15 or 12/16 look more how it should have come from the factory.

That's it a lot of posts discussing them but no photos!

I bought a set of 12/15 in the end as they'll be very similar to my prets if my maths is correct with the rears that little bit more which it needs. Hopefully I won't feel the need to bring back the mudflaps...

The car will sit well with that spec of spacers, particularly at the rear where there’s a lot of room in the arches.
Not too “stanced” and not overly inset like the standard offset.
Just how it should have come from the factory.

These are all 12 - 15mm on both 7.5 and 8j

This one is harder to see but this is no spacer on the front and 12mm on the rear. Personally I thin this setup looks much better because the 12mm on the front was a bit to aggressive. But with an 8j I think if you could get an 8mm that’d be perfect and a 12mm on the rear.

Totally subjective of course but that’s my view. Also the only benefit I found in terms of driving with the 12 - 15mm setup was being able to drive straight over the middle of speed bumps

Thanks that's a great help chaps. Follow up question what is the common compound to use to prevent them from bonding to the hub? Bit of aluminium anti-seize?

A very light smear of anything water resistant that won’t react with the different metals of the spacer/bolts/hub is fine.
I used nappy rash cream in a 20 year old tub I had  (it has zinc in it) which also works well on garage door rollers…
