Thanks for the kind words everyone, it has been an ordeal for everyone who could be bothered to read my frequent posts about delays. Hoping to give the car a little workout tomorrow and see how it fares on my "signpost test" against my other cars, to see how much it will beat the GTD by, without giving it everything.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Had "mr I know what you did last summer" give the R a good stare as he walked past the house tonight, gave his neck a right crane as he passed it.

Our street wraps around a park, so we see some dog walking regulars, including a bloke with a couple of collies. When the weather is wet, he's quite often seen in a bright yellow sou' wester and matching fisherman's coat, so we gave him the nickname "mr I know what you did last summer" when we first recognised him as a regular walker that passes our house daily.. We have names for a few of the regulars.

He sounds like a character from Scooby Doo.  Probably thinking "those meddling pesky kids have got another new car".

Haha, am guilty of doing the same, mainly with people at work and the generic name of 'Janey' which is applied to any female über left wing/commie, tofu-munching, tree-hugging, do-gooder, there's a story behind the Janey name but I won't bore you with, you had to be there

Congrats MH.
At long last it arrives. I'm surprised you didn't start a new pick up thread with photos and your signpost stats.
It looks great anyway, love the blue with Pretorias.
Hopefully now you've had a huge sigh of relief and can put your VW UK woes behind you for a few years!

One of our neighbours has just left in his old panel van (it likely won't be back until after dark). We call him the "tooth fairy" as it looks like the van from the "Red Dragon"/"Manhunter" films, and he's quite tall and thin. I've never had to take in a parcel of Chloroform for him yet.

I wonder what our nickname is?

By your accounts, you've got some interesting characters trolling around your area. You and your wife seem like rather busy voyeurs.

They probably think your R is a t@rts car and thus name you as such. I rather like jam tarts.

Our house is bang in the middle of our street that wraps around the park. Lots of people have a nosey into our living room when walking past with their dogs, so we sometimes have a look out from the comfort of the sofas (the TV is right next to the window, so we're not exactly craning our necks to do so).

I dread to think

Manhunter - great film, much better than the inferior Red Dragon imo.

I feel its good to be engaged with one's surroundings. It's all part of living. Can't stand people who cocoon themselves.
