Should I have ordered PP?

After 8k miles on CS2, whilst there is lots of tread left I am now experiencing rather a lot more wheel spin whilst accelerating than previously.

The car I test drove had neither PP or leather, both options I would have considered. On that basis, I didn't order either, although I did order a car which came to nearly £35 before discount.

Have I made an error with PP, or should I just change the tyres "early" for something better?

Change to Michelin PS3/PSS or Goodyear Eagle F1.

Leather doesn't prevent wheelspin, so you're fine having not specced it.

The Goodyears are really soft so you'll get even less out of them than the conti 2's.

I've got the pp GTI and get hardly any wheelspin now it's dry - that's with the rubbish Bridgestone tyres and a tuning box so circa 280bhp.
There is more in the wet but it isn't horrendous at all.

It isn't a daily driver, just surprised that the traction has gone when there is still 3-4mm of tread left.

Sounds like a set of F1 now is what I need  to make me happy again, although I hate to get rid of tyres when they apparently have lots of life left.

Another vote for the GYEF1's here. That's what I run on my Mk6 Gti. I pick up my Mk7 Gti next week and am not looking forward to having Bridgestones :-(

Michelin pilot super sports are definitely worth the extra over the GY F1s...

The F1s are a great tyre but the PSS eclipses them in every area, had both on my 280ish bhp ed35 and the PSS are a league ahead imo

Yes but I can tell you from first hand experience coming from CS2's they are way, way more grippy! If grip is what he's after then go for a softer compound but expect to change more frequently  ;-)

Don't be surprised the traction has gone with 3-4mm left. The exact same thing happened to me but I made a choice. I was getting quite peeved with wheel spin and loss of traction so I made a decision to ditch early and get brand new soft compound rubber. Best decision I've made. Had to just suck up the fact I was throwing away tyres with 3-4mm left but it was definitely worth it.

Think I'll try the Michelin Super Sports next (though more expensive).
