AGG sump gasket replacement
« on: 24 May 2015, 13:26 »
I have noticed an oil leak from the sump on my mk3 golf and would like to know whether it will require taking the engine out to fit or can I replace it while the engine is in the car.

Also could you recommend a good quality gasket to biy in the UK.

I've also done some googling and discovered that many people suggest one withba windage tray. Are these only for deisels or petrol as well.

Car is a mk3 golf gti 2.0

if you go to gsf or ecp they will sort you out with a rubber sump gasket. victor reinz or elring are 2 decent brands that spring to mind. as for a windage tray I really don't think that's necessary as there is already a baffle type thing in the sump attached to oil pick-up pipe.

Save your money and buy a new pick up pipe instead.
Unless you track your car or drive like a looney oil foaming is not a problem
