Running wiring from Stereo to Rear view cam
« on: 23 May 2015, 21:11 »
Hi

Has anyone fitted a reversing camera (genuine badge or aftermarket) themselves? The trickiest thing for me is how to do the wiring from the camera to the stereo... :/

I am guessing it goes under carpet, through the middle but does anyone know a better way or some tips please?

Thanks

I installed mine, the cable runs up the sill on the drivers side.

You just need to remove the plastic sill cover, and some more around the rear hatch, been a while since I did mine.

Snoopy's link looks like a good place to start.

It was the badge camera.
SteveP, on here, used to sell the kit but I haven't seen him about for a while

Thanks guys. I have gone for an aftermarket camera that goes near the number plate as its a lot cheaper and easier to set up that the badge camera :)

The flip out badge camera is very cool though!

Fitted a reverse camera near the number plate light. Took a lot of time to figure out how to get the wire from inside the boot to the outside but managed it without drilling holes. There is a gromit thingy on right hand side of boot and got wire out through there and near the bumper. Then just a case of using a coat hanger through the number plate light to fish out the wire and pull it through.

A lot of effort but worth it for a reversing camera that didn't cost too much ;)
