What polish and pad combo

Hi guys, my 18 month old Pure white GTD has a few light scratches and a little cobwebbing - nothing too serious, but i can see it in the right light.

i have both a rotary and a DA polisher and was wondering what peoples preferred Polish and Pad combo is for the VW paint in this colour please ?

I used the Chemical Guys Hex Pads on my edition 35 and on other cars since and was always happy with the results, the white for polishing and the black for buffing. Just make sure that when you are giving it its final buff with MF cloth that you use something decent (resisting the obvious lead).

In terms of polishes Meguairs 105 & 205 were my choice but this was purely after recommendation, again I've been happy with these.

I'd probably run a coat of Poorboys White Diamond over the top too as it has fillers in it and then seal it.

+1 for Chemical a Guys Hex Logic pads.  Have also used Meguiars pads which are good but they have been cast aside since I got the hex ones.

For polish, always had good results using Poorboys SSR1 and SSR2, which I really like.  If the swirls are fairly minimal, start with a light/medium pad and light cut polish with and step up polish and pad as required.  I'd start with the white hex pad and move to orange if more cut required and finish with black.

Colour of car is irrelevant until you get to to the final stages with glazes and waxes.  Heard lots of good things about Poorboys Diamond White and if it's anything like their Black Hole glaze which is excellent, then it should be good.  Be good applied on hex blue pad for a nice thin, even layer, and buff off with a good micro fibre.  DoDo Juice Fantastic Fur and the WoWo micro fibres are my favourites.

Thanks both. Would you suggest (as I'm a bit of a novice), getting the Hex Pads for the DA rather than the rotary, or will this be really hard work ?

Then stepping up to the rotary when I've got a little more practice in ?

Definately start with the DA and hex pads.  You've said your car only light swirls and scratches - you might need to do a few passes depending on the degree of swirling but the DA will sort these no problem.   I've only ever used a DA and it' always done the job.  If you're unsure there's loads of you tube vids for novices, search out ones such Meguiars vids which I found helpful starting out.

If I did fancy having a go with a rotary, I'd want to practise a lot on something other than my own car first!

Poorboys White Diamond and SSR1 and SSR2 duly purchased (seems I already had a 6.5" white and black hex logic pad that's I've never used for the DA 

Thanks again guys. Will need some new mitts soon so I'll check out the Wo-Wo ones as they come so highly recommended (and with a forum discount).

I use rupes pads and polish/compound which pad and polish depending on the defect
